SBRHS Girls Soccer 2013 Team Expectations
ACADEMICS: Each member of the team is a STUDENT-athlete. Success in school comes before anything on the field.
RULES TO PLAY BY:
FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THE ABOVE WILL RESULT IN A LOSS OF PLAYING TIME. REPEATED INFRACTIONS WILL RESULT IN EXPULSION FROM TEAM.
TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS: Traveling home on the bus with the team from away games should be made a priority. Traveling with your teammates is part of the experience.
If conflict arises:
TEAM SELECTION: Athletes will be placed on the team that will best challenge them technically and tactically.
PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT EXPECTATIONS:
PROBLEM RESOLUTION PROTOCOL:
Self-advocating is an important part of building ones self-esteem and maintaining a happy life. High school is an excellent time in the lives of our youth to work on developing this essential skill.
1. Player speaks with coach.
2. Player speaks with coach, parent, and athletic director.
Coaches will not participate in any type of communication with parents concerning playing time and team selection (including phone calls and emails) if the above order of operations is not followed.

- Employ good time management so that you don’t have to miss practice/game time. Take advantage of study halls, limit phone, texting, and computer chats with friends. Work smart!!
- Too much homework? Student must come see coach before practice and notify her of plans to miss.
- After-school tutoring or make-ups: Student must bring a pass from that teacher to practice for documentation.
RULES TO PLAY BY:
- All practices, games, team meetings, team dinners are mandatory.
- All athletes must come prepared everyday for practices/games.
- Must be in school on time everyday.
- Unexcused absence or tardiness from school or practice is not tolerated.
- Detention for any reason is not tolerated.
- A poor attitude directed towards coaches or teammates is not tolerated.
- Must adhere to the MIAA chemical health policy.
- Must adhere to the MIAA bona fide team member rule.

- PLAYER must see coach one day in advance.
- A note is required one day in advance if you must travel with someone that is not your parent/guardian.
TEAM SELECTION: Athletes will be placed on the team that will best challenge them technically and tactically.
- Varsity Team: selected by the coaches with the emphasis of playing the best team of players at all times. Any interference with the team selection or playing time by a player or parent will result in a loss of playing time.
- Junior Varsity: all students will receive playing time unless one of the above infractions is committed. If you see that your student is not playing please know that there is a reason for it and we have it documented.
PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT EXPECTATIONS:
- We ask that fans cheer from the hill or opposite side of the field during home and away games.
- Fans are asked to congratulate athletes only after the coach has dismissed the team.
- Approaching coach before or after games to discuss anything concerning team/position selection or playing time is not tolerated.
- Positive observations, encouragement, rides to and from team practices/events, positive displays of sportsmanship, and further support that helps accomplish team goals if always appreciated!!
